Today I've stumbled over this fantastic program to recognize songs. It's called Tunatic and you can use it to identify unknown songs. For years I've used the "type a part of the lyrics in a search engine" way, this could be a handy addition to that. In my short test it recognized songs from different genres like blues, heavy metal, alternative and even punk. Unfortunately, Tunalyzer , the program for fingerprinting songs and enhancing the database, is currenlty only available for Mac OS X. Of course Tunatic is freeware, wouldn't be so exited if it weren't...
